FYPH History
In
1986, a group of Fayette County citizens recognized the need
for children to have a safe place protected from abuse and
neglect and formed Fayette Youth Protection Home, Inc. FYPH
built and opened the Jim Friday Home in North Fayette County
in August, 1989. FYPH contracted with Georgia Baptist Children’s
Homes to provide the clinical services and staff for the children.
A second facility, the Asden Johnson Home located in Brooks,
GA, opened in August, 1998. In July of 2005, the two homes
were consolidated into one home, the newly-named and renovated
Friday-Johnson Home in Brooks.
Historically, FYPH has been licensed to serve children ages
6 through late adolescence. Responding to the rising number
of children under the age of 6 in need of care, the FYPH Board
of Directors is currently expanding its services to include
a comprehensive privatized foster care program. In addition
to providing shelter for children at the Friday-Johnson Home,
FYPH will recruit, train, and support a network of family
foster care homes to serve children of all ages. |
